Psychotic and materialistic opposing party

Yes, you heard me correctly. The opposing party in my case last week was the worst case of a materialistic empty headed woman I've ever seen in my whole life. And I've seen a lot because I represent many very wealthy men in their New Mexico Divorce cases. The wives usually do come in with a materialistic mind-set and then the realities of NM divorce law hits them and they calm down and get smart. Not this one. It was really sad to see this woman who cannot think beyond how much money she'll get from this divorce and how she'll support her "lifestyle" and wants her list satisfied that she needs to be able to continue to buy "fine jewelry" after the divorce. What a TRIP! I also heard that she makes fun of her friends if they are wearing shoes from Payless. That's horrible. To top it all of she comes from a really poor background and only knew the fruits of wealth now because of marrying this guy. It's sad when people forget their origins or where they came from.
I think maybe she bugs me too because when I first started earning a higher income, I went through a phase where I would only buy designer clothes, designer bags and shoes, etc. Then, after I had bought all the designer stuff you can possibly buy, it hit me that the materialistic stuff isn't what matters. What does matter are the relationships you have with your family, co-workers, piers and colleagues. That's when I decided to expand my Law Firm so that I could spread and share the wealth with other lawyers and legal staff. Which is exactly what I did and I'm so much happier. Don't get me wrong, I still buy designer clothes, items, bags, sunglasses, but it doesn't own me or run me anymore.
So this woman, this opposing party in this case, apparently does NOT like me very much. Unfortunately for her, I don't care. I'm not hired or paid to be liked by the opposing party. Her attorney, on the other hand, seemed to be very professional during our settlement facilitation and I appreciated that she was so professional and didn't let things get ugly or personal. The attorney's name is Virginia Dugan. We'll see how things go with her as the case progresses now that we didn't settle this case. I have never had a case with her so I'm not sure what to expect other than what I've heard from other attorneys about her. They say she's good and she's also good to work with. So we'll see if that's true or not. Of course I'll let you know what happens and how it goes. Let's just say that I'd much rather work with the attorney rather than an opposing psycho party! Have a great day. Felissa M. Garcia
