Topic: New Mexico Divorce and Family Law Real Life Cases and Judges

I will admit that lawyers do have their favorite Judges.  What makes a Judge good from a lawyer's standpoint?  It is a Judge who is first, and foremost, fair and who listens to what is being said in Court.  A good Judge makes fair and firm decisions and doesn't give preference to a Family Law litigant because it is either a man or a woman.  A good Judge looks at both males and females as coming into Divorce or Child Custody Court at the same level and equal to each other.

Since Judge Gerard Lavelle first took the bench and a Domestic Violence Hearing Officer in Albuquerque, he has shown both the litigants and the lawyers in New Mexico that he is absolutely fair, efficient, and strong.  I am so pleased that he was nominated to the Governor for an appointment.  Judge Lavelle did all of his interviews with Governor Richardson and he received the Judicial Appointment.  Today he is being sworn in at the Second Judicial District Court.  How exciting for him and for us too.

I want to take this time to congratulate Judge Lavelle on his accomplishments, and to thank him for the excellent job he did as a DV Special Commissioner and as a Judge since he has taken the bench.  All of the lawyers from The Family Law Firm have had only good things to say about him.  I have yet to have a case heard before him, but I will surely let you know how it goes.

Congratulations, Judge Lavelle, and we wish you all the best and the most wonderful success.  We pray that Wisdom and fairness be on your side always and that it not be lost in the flurry of what happens in Family Court.
