Topic: New Mexico Divorce and Family Law Real Life Cases and Judges

Before I tell you about one of the greatest New Mexico lawyers of all time, I want to tell you about a case I'm working on (without names, of course). It is, of course, public record and I would never disclose confidential information. The legal scenario is very interesting. We had a trial in December and the Family Court Judge here in Albuquerque did not allow testimony on a particular issue. Then we got the ruling a few days ago and she had made a ruling on the issue that she had specifically excluded. It was shocking. I'm curious to hear what you think about that.

Next, I want to tell you about this NM Attorney who is to me one of the best lawyers alive. I met him through this lady I used to share an office with. She didn't like me very much. I don't know why she didn't like me.  But he was her friend and so I don't think he liked me very much back then either. Well, lately, I have gotten to work with him on several cases, and he has gotten to know me, the real me. And now, today, he actually sent me an email, addressed to me personally, sharing some interesting points of law. The subject is Child Support and an Unequal Division of Property. It is about a hypothetical client who is to have a child support obligation and the payor wants his or her half of the property. I cannot tell you how wonderful it made me feel to get that email from him. I actually feel like a colleague of his, and I am deeply honored that he thought of me and sent me the email. It's the small things that matter to me and I appreciate the goodness in people, even lawyers, when I see it. Thank you so much Zenon. All of your hard work is very much appreciated by all those cases you help all of us Divorce Lawyers to settle. Without your expert assistance in settlement facilitations, there would be alot more unhappy people out there. You give them a way to have closure and to move on. That's the best thing we can do as divorce attorneys.

Maybe, just maybe, one day I can convince Zenon to occupy one of the offices in my Firm and just have his presence there. I could ask him all of my questions, he could guide me on all of the legal and ethical questions I have and I could finally have a true, on-site mentor. What do you think?

I'll talk to you more on Monday. For now, have a wonderful weekend. :-) Felissa
