We have a very good and restful Spring Break and weekend. Got lots done around the house and feeling pretty good about going back to work tomorrow. Last week I went in to work alot then left at noon but starting tomorrow I will be working full days again. I have a Brief-in-Chief due tomorrow to the New Mexico Court of Appeals on a NM Child Support case. It's a very interesting case and I will be posting the brief for you as an attachment if you are interested in reading it. The poor guy was required to pay child support because he was working overtime to get through the divorce, then the Court penalized him for working overtime and included it in his child support forcing him to keep working overtime just to pay his child support obligation. OMG. It's unbelievable.
Yesterday I wondered a lot about why I became a lawyer. At first it was because I thought I wanted to make a lot of money. But as the years have gone by and as I've learned my craft and seen the injustices out there that are created by litigants, opposing parties, opposing attorneys, and sometimes Judges and Hearing Officers, I came to the conclusion yesterday that the reason I remain practicing New Mexico Family Law is because of the injustices that need to be fixed and that seems to be what my job consists of on a daily basis. That's a good thing.
I am missing Coco a lot today and yesterday and every day since she's been gone. I love her and I wish I could have at least said good-bye to her. I didn't know she was sick. I just with I could at least be with her one more time.
Oh, by the way, did you hear about the John Mayer and Jennifer Aniston breakup? Yup, they broke up again. I personally think it's because he's an ass. I think he is gorgeous, talented, rich, tall and everything else that would make him a perfect guy except for the fact that he is a pompous ass. It makes you wonder why Jennifer Aniston was even with him to begin with. I guess breaking up with Brad Pitt would be the all time heartbreaking situation so maybe I can't blame her too much for going after the other hotties out there.
I was also shocked about the death of Natasha Richardson. I mean, how many times have all of us fallen and hit our heads. She was so young too. When I heard that, and then Coco dying last week has really made me realize how absolutely precious life is and how fragile our lives are. It made me realize that every second of every day is precious and it is a gift from God. The question is always whether or not we are using our days productively or wasting those precious seconds and moments that we'll never have back. I struggle with that though a lot these days.
We have my niece Anissa over here today so I'm going to go play with them. They're watching YouTube on the computer and I need to make sure they're not watching some weird stuff that people put on there! So I will talk to you very soon and let you know how things are going. Felissa M. Garcia
