Taking Some Time Off

After last week, anybody would need a few days off. We worked our tails off getting ready for a Settlement Facilitation in a divorce case, super long hours and boxes full of paperwork. A settlement facilitation is where the two parties (husband and wife) go into a structured mediation setting. Each party has their lawyer with them and there is a "neutral" person who tries to help the parties settle the case. Ours last week was basically a waste of time. The settlement facilitator seemed to be totally intimidated by the case, facts and amounts of money being fought over and he also seemed intimidated by the two lawyers in the case. I was very disappointed, as was my client.
I am feeling very tired and as though I will never feel "un-tired". I've been sleeping alot and trying to get as much rest as I can. But it's hard though because of the news I have - I'm moving from my current home to another house! When we first moved into this Goliath huge house, I had all my kids and my grandson with me. Now my oldest is married and she took my grandson with her :( . The great news about her, though, is that she's pregnant again and we're so so happy!! Next, Zoya, my second oldest daughter was accepted to Stanford University in Palo Alto, California, near San Francisco, so she'll be moving out in a few weeks. So my hubby and I were noticing that this house is suddenly WAY to big for just us and Kat (11 years old) so we started house hunting a few weeks ago. I found "the" house finally and we'll be moving in on July 1. Our new home is a beautiful house, about 3700 square feet which is MUCH smaller than the house we're living in now, and it's such a beautiful home. I'm really excited and sad at the same time. Our current house has been so nice to live in, very fancy and all that materialistic stuff, but the new house is nicer, just smaller. Plus, living in Tanoan has so many rules that it's sometimes ridiculous. I got a ticket for my dogs barking one day, then I got a ticket for leaving our trash bins out over night! The new place is also inside an Association kind of like Tanoan but not as strict or stupid. Moving is so hard too, so I'm definitely not looking forward to all that work. But it's also a good time to get rid of the stuff we don't use or need.
I've also started a competition with a family member. We are seeing who can lose the most percentage of body fat in 2 months. We both weighed ourselves on the same scale at the same time and we wrote down our numbers (ouch). But I definitely needed some time of motivation to start working out again and losing weight. So I hope this helps. I'll let you know who wins (ME). Haha.
Lots of drama going on in my family of origin. My parents own a great deal of property in Old Town and my mom decided to sell a big tract of it to my nephew and the rest of our family is having a heart attack over it. It's just property. It's not love. It's not a human being. I hate this part of my family. They all claim that the Old Town property is "our legacy" but you know what, our legacy is who each and every one of us is as an individual and it doesn't matter what happens to the property. When we die, Old Town certainly isn't coming with any of us so I think we all need to realize that it is more important to love our family rather than a piece of property. And I'm not being a hypocrite. I admit that I don't visit with my family as much as I should, but I have my reasons, mainly that I am working on alot of my own childhood issues and trying to become the adult that I want to be. If that means staying away and working on my issues and spending more time with my own family, there's nothing wrong with that, is there?
Drama, drama, drama. It'll be over soon. I've missed you and I'll talk to you again soon. Felissa
